Natural products as novel cathepsin inhibitors
Cysteine cathepsins (papain-like family) are involved in the pathogenesis of various diseases, such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. These disorders are associated with failures in the degradation of extracellular matrix proteins, collagens and elastins. In this presentation, we will describe the identification of natural products as inhibitors of cathepsins V and K.
